On December 1st, eligible voters will elect the Permanent Board of Trustees in accordance with Article 22C of the Illinois Pension Code and the 2020 Trustee Election Rules. The Firefighters’ Pension Investment Fund’s Election Panel has approved the final slate of candidates for the 2020 Trustee Election, and the slate of candidates can be viewed below.
Elections will be held for the Beneficiary Trustee position, the Executive Trustee position (4-Year Term), and the Executive Trustee position (2-year Term). Election materials will be mailed to eligible voters’ addresses on file on or before October 26th. Election Ballots must be received at the return address by 4:30 pm on December 1st. Election materials will include candidate biographies, voting instructions, the appropriate mail ballot(s), and a prepaid return envelope. Ballots must be returned by the United States Postal Service.
Eligible voters for the Beneficiary Trustee position include retired firefighters receiving a retirement pension, disabled pensioners, and deferred pensioners. Voters for the Beneficiary Trustee position will receive their ballots at their home address. Eligible voters for the Executive Trustee positions include mayors and presidents of municipalities and fire protection districts. Voters for the Executive Trustee positions will receive their ballots at their public office address.
The Election Panel has deemed candidates Kevin Bramwell, Matthew Kink and George Schick elected to the Participant Trustee Positions. No election will be held for Participant Trustee 4-year Term or Participant Trustee 2-year Term, in accordance with the FPIF 2020 Trustee Election Rules. The Rules provide that if the number of candidates filing conforming petitions does not exceed the number of trustees to be elected under a Trustee Position, the Election Panel shall certify those candidates as trustees for the Trustee Position and no election for that Trustee Position shall be administered.
