Investment Policy

Our Investment Guidelines and Strategies

A Word About the Investment Policy

The purpose of the investment policy is to formalize the investment objectives, guidelines and procedures of FPIF, while providing operational direction to the Board, staff, agents and representatives of FPIF. Our investment strategy seeks to maximize the probability of meeting long-term return objectives while minimizing risk, controlling expenses and complying with the governing provisions of the Illinois Pension Code and other applicable laws and regulations.

The FPIF Board of Trustees adopted the investment policy in 2021 that governs the management of its investments. The policy establishes an interim and a long-term asset allocation. FPIF manages to its interim asset allocation and seeks to prudently construct its long-term portfolio. The fund is managed with a long-term investment horizon and endeavors to maintain sufficient liquidity to meet disbursement needs.
