William R. Atwood serves as the Executive Director and Chief Investment Officer of FPIF. William is responsible for the overall management of the Fund and the leadership of the administration of the organization in achieving our short-term and long-term goals. William reports directly to the full Board of Trustees.
Steve Zahn serves as the Chief Operating Officer. He is responsible for managing the operational functions of the FPIF, which include overseeing Board Member elections, actuarial statements, support for Article 4 audits, legislative interactions, external communications, and both human resources and IT.
Kim Thorpe serves as the Chief Financial Officer of FPIF. Kim directs and manages the accounting, finance, internal control and treasury functions for FPIF and is responsible for monthly and annual financial reporting for FPIF and its participating pension funds.
Moshe Latif is an investment professional at the Firefighters' Pension Investment Fund (FPIF), where he plays a key role in the oversight and implementation of the Fund's private markets investment program. His responsibilities investment strategy development, manager due diligence, performance evaluation, risk oversight across all private market asset classes and relationship management. Moshe works closely with the Board of Trustees, investment consultants, OCIOS, external managers, and service providers to support FPIF's long-term investment objectives. Moshe is actively involved in manager searches, asset allocation initiatives, private market operations, and coordinating with legal counsel for fund closings.
Before joining FPIF, Moshe was an analyst at Northern Trust. In this role he worked on two teams simultaneously in the global fund services group working with the fund accounting and corporate actions team.

Anna Simonson is an investment professional at the Firefighters' Pension Investment Fund (FPIF), where she plays a key role in the oversight and implementation of the Fund's public markets investment program. Her responsibilities include investment strategy development, manager due diligence, performance evaluation, and ongoing risk oversight across global equity and fixed income portfolios. Anna works closely with the Board of Trustees, investment consultants, external managers, and service providers to support FPIF's long-term investment objectives. She is actively involved in manager searches, asset allocation initiatives, portfolio rebalancing and the evaluation of emerging investment opportunities.
Anna earned both her bachelor's and master's degrees in Finance from Northern Illinois University, where she also completed a Graduate Certificate in Financial Technology (FinTech), combining a strong foundation in investment management with expertise in emerging financial technologies. Through her leadership and collaborative approach, she helps ensure the prudent stewardship of assets entrusted to the Fund on behalf of Illinois firefighters.
Saima Fayyaz is the Financial Reporting Manager, responsible for pension fund cash management and assisting the CFO in ensuring effective financial management of FPIF through financial reporting and planning.
Ruth Payne serves as the Administrative Assistant. In her role, she is responsible for providing administrative support to the board, the staff and participating pension funds.
