Matthew Kink

Secretary, Participant Trustee

Matthew Kink serves as the Board Secretary of the Board of Trustees. Matthew has served as a Participant Trustee on the FPIF Board of Trustees since its inception in January 2020. 

Matthew has been a member of Springfield Firefighters Local 37 since January 2012. During his time with the Springfield Fire Department, Matthew served the department and Local 37 in several capacities. He served four years with Springfield’s Foreign Fire Insurance Board, served as the Treasurer for Local 37, and currently serves as Local 37’s Shift Steward. Matthew is in his second, three-year term as a trustee with the Springfield Firefighters’ Pension Fund, which has assets over $140 million.

Matthew received his Bachelor of Science degree in Finance with honors from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign in 2003. Furthering his studies, he earned a Juris Doctor and Master of Business Administration from Creighton University in 2006.

Matthew is licensed to practice in law in Illinois and prior to joining the Springfield Fire Department, he was Senior Counsel for an Information Technology/Software Corporation. Most recently, Matthew advised clients on tax, estate planning and elder law with an estate planning law firm.

Matthew and his wife, Lynn, have two children, Ava and Joseph. In his free time, Matthew enjoys running and spending time with his family.
